Many of the buildings and infrastructure of the Bunker Hill Mining Corporation still stand after it closed in 1981.
Thousands lost their jobs at the closure and reduced operations of other mines in the area.
The town has since tried to package itself as a resort town with skiing and other mountain activities.
Many lawsuits were filed against the company for polution clean-up.
